Final Fantasy

So much light
I can't see myself
So dark around
I can't be myself
From the shackles
I'll free myself
And the journey continues.

Lay beside me,
and lift me high above
Then let go off the cliff,
for that adrenaline rush
The clouds have gone now,
will it ever rain
If you can love me now,
I can love you once again

Lay beside me,
in this gothic sky
Black blood flowing in my vein,
but i want to stay alive
The clouds are back now,
the journey continues
Its raining once again,
and the journey continues.

Crumples flowers, crumpled stones
Bruised and battered, I stand alone
Are you the wine, that can carry me with you?

Crumpled flower. crumpled stone
Carrying blames on my own
Are you the sin
are you sorry I was you?
Well, I am sorry too.

Come lay beside me,
it's hurting even more
I tried to break free all my bonds
and it's hurting even more
There's no strength left now
I am giving in, I am through
Are you listening to me now,
I am coming back to you.

So lay beside me,
and be my final home
Only you can save me now,
from the drudgery that I've known
This life's not for me,
it's too real, it's too true
Are you listening to me now,
I am coming back to you.

Banal life, banal name
All the while I have been the same
Without the rain how can I be free

Banal life, banal name
My life's been shrouded with shame
Oh dear death! come and be with me
You're my final fantasy.

  1. Engrossing and meaningful. Sad and well-said. Lively and dead.

  3. @anon ... thanks, considering that deep means good

@chinmay ... chalo engrossing to laga , which means u liked reading ... so the purpose is served

@philosophical junkie ... poetry means breaking rules too, so maybe i did that by not being subtle.

Note for everyone: Isnt the text lyrical ... does it remind you of nething?

For You (The Girl In Purple)

Dear Girl in Purple, Let me start at the bottom-line itself: I don’t like you. I don’t like you because you brought to the surface the very facet of my being that I dreaded the most – that being: acute paranoia, extreme wariness of public embarrassment, and of course my utter discomfort in the mere presence of a girl. Remember this – I have tried all my life to shield these aspects from public knowledge. For me these are more covert than perhaps the existence of the Holy Grail. Alas, though, as all this is now a thing of the past. You make me feel pathetic and miserable. I mean, how difficult is it to walk up to a cute girl in a coffee shop and say “hello” or whatever else might be fitting. What is the risk I am playing against? No probable solution of the Schrödinger’s equation will make my saying “hello” lead to a nuclear holocaust. Life is not like the Butterfly Effect. But my utterly female-terrorised brain makes me believe otherwise. Or maybe, it’s just that guys who talk of...

Date A Girl Who Loathes Herself

Author's Note: I have been given to understand that this piece makes me look like a douche. Well, I am not. This piece was an exercise in writing, and I hope (and pray), that I am not judged on it, by girls. Special mentions for Rosemarie Urquico for writing that wonderful piece, and for Tapas Shrivastava for making me want to write one myself. Thanks to Rohini Lall for the spark that ignited this particular piece. Date a girl who loathes herself. Date a girl who spends her money on comfort food. She has problems with closet space because she has too many high heels bought in moments of madness. Date a girl who has a list of failed relationships, who lost her first elocution competition when she was twelve. Find a girl who is depressed. You'll know she is because she has that long lost look in her eye. She is the one wearing crushed pajamas in the cafeteria, the one who is fidgeting with her cell phone, contemplating whether calling her therapist third time in a day woul...

Conversations with Self

A lot of you keep asking me, “ tu din bhar karta kya ha i ” (what do you do all day in your free time). Here’s the answer. In what follows, most of the lines were spoken in the head, some aloud. And it’s not this coherent in original, it’s been paraphrased. “ I need a plan. I really need a plan. I need to retire, retire early. I can't work for long. I should retire by the time I am 40. Yeah 40 seems reasonable. That gives me 16 years of working life. Spend a couple years doing MBA, and I am left with 14 years. Not bad. I hope I will be able to retire at 40, and not get bogged by social obligation. Obligations? Will I have a family to take care of? A kid maybe? [No comment on this status update yet? Why isn’t anyone online?] Hmm, I can have a kid. How old would he be then? Around 7 I guess. Yeah 33 seems to be a good age to have a kid. And when the kid is 7, that’s a good time to retire. Give my nurturing instincts a way to express themselves [chuckles to self] . Seriously, 7 is a ...
